‘What a wonderful town’

New York City – Wow! New York City is the apple of many an eye. This is the city that never sleeps and that houses our nation’s freedom symbol, The Statute of Liberty , which stands at 305 feet tall from her foundation to her torch and weighs in at 450,000 pounds. Her waist is 35-feet, and her index finger is 8 feet long. On Friday, January 1, 1892 Ellis Island opened its doors and from 1892 to 1924, 12 million immigrants entered the United States. It’s no wonder that 8,000,000 people, 1.5 million in Manhattan alone (that amounts to 67,000 people per square mile), call New York City their home.

Wonder of Wonders, New York, NY encompasses Broadway and Times Square and the best nightlife and entertainment in the nation. There’s all this and much more in New York City Guideone big city that never sleeps. On September 11, 2001 3,000 of our fellow Americans died tragically in the bombing of the World Trade Center so be sure to pay respects as you visit the newly erected memorial. Remember our troops fighting for our freedom with a moment of silence and prayer.

If that’s not enough to keep you coming back again and again then think of the best restaurants and shopping this nation has to offer. Come see New York, it’s all this and a whole lot more! After you’ve decided to extend your stay you’ll be walking around singing, “I love New York”!

New York nightlife is quite possibly the most fantastic in the nation with all the choices you have for a night out it’s amazing. There are more than 19,000 restaurants. There is something happening every night, 365 days a year in New York and some things go on all day and all night-that’s why it’s the city that never sleeps. Here in New York you can pick and choose so many different places to eat at, dance in, listen to music in that it’s phenomenal.

There's no place like New York for serious shoppers. If you're looking for a great collection of designer boutiques, head straight for Madison Avenue or SoHo. Searching for a glittering array of engagement rings? Try Tiffany's, Cartier, or the Diamond District. Where can you bargain for knock-off handbags, sunglasses and watches? Along Canal Street. Stroll down Fifth Avenue from 59th Street to 39th Street and you can make convenient detours into Bergdorf Goodman, Henri Bendel, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Lord & Taylor. Avenue of the Americas (Sixth Avenue) between 18th & 23rd Streets is known for smart business wear and casual wear.

Our host while in New York, is the Helmsley Hotel.

The Helmsley New York is a superior hotel, located within 1 block of the United Nations, and only 2 blocks from Grand Central Terminal. The heart of Manhattan, Times Square, is just a ten minute stroll down 42nd Street. But location is not the only thing The Helmsley New York has going for it. The Helmsley attracts travelers from around the globe, and fellow New Yorkers alike, appealing to the most discriminating food critics anywhere. They come to mingle and dine at Mindy's, a magnificently designed tri-level gourmet restaurant, and at Harry's Bar, where the martinis are legendary. All of the "Big Apple" is a short stroll, cab ride, or subway token away from The Helmsley New York.
The Helmsley New York has beautifully appointed guest accommodations that are the pinnacle of elegance and comfort; from the gold leaf embossed hardwood hangers to the signature bath beads. Attention to detail and the finer things are what you can expect at The Helmsley New York. All guest rooms have three phones, each with two lines.

An additional special treat for our guests!

Located on the 65th floor overlooking the north, south, and east sides of Manhattan, the Rainbow Room is where we offer dinner and dancing. In the Rainbow Room there is a panoramic view of New York City, a revolving dance floor in the center of the dining room, and a live Big Band Orchestra that performs throughout the evening a variety of ballroom style dance music. Dinner and dancing at the Rainbow Room is a wonderful way to spend a romantic evening on top of the clouds.
